Argus Dental & Vision Creates Excedis, Inc. to Assist Health Care Plans in Driving HEDIS Measurement Improvement

Argus Dental & Vision Inc., announced today that the company has created a wholly owned subsidiary, Excedis, Inc., ( Excedis’ mission is to provide innovative, quality vision and dental solutions to help Medicare and Medicaid healthcare partners succeed in improving their HEDIS scores, while simultaneously expanding member access to dental and vision care.

On the vision side, Excedis will partner with health care plans and ACO clients to support a plan’s diabetic membership in receiving important dilated retinal exams, closing care gaps, thereby closing HEDIS gaps and achieving higher STAR ratings. Excedis will also create valued partnerships with healthcare plans to help expand access and improve oral health among their pediatric populations (ages 2-21), resulting in increased percentage of annual dental visit (ADV) quality metrics.

Dr. Nicholas M. Kavouklis DMD, CEO and Founder of Argus Dental & Vision stated, “As HEDIS measurements continue to drive improvements to how healthcare is delivered, measured, and marketed, many plans don’t have the resources to maximize their efforts in the HEDIS areas of diabetics and dental. We have already been successfully helping existing clients improve their scores, and believe that these efforts could benefit plans through a dedicated service-based company.”

Kavouklis has tapped Brian Hauser to lead Excedis as President. He has over 15 years of leadership experience, spending 10 years in the vision industry with Transitions Optical, the world’s largest manufacturer and marketer of photochromic prescription lenses. As General Manager, North America, Hauser was responsible for the company’s largest revenue region, and an organization of 400 people in sales, marketing, finance, and operations. More recently he was GM and VP of Operations for Infiniti Labs, a privately held toxicology lab in Tampa, Florida, as well as a senior partner with Visibility Management.

“HEDIS quality metrics will continue to be a critical part of improvements to healthcare delivery. I am excited for the opportunity to utilize Excedis’ core competencies in vision and dental spaces to assist other plans in improving their HEDIS scores,” says Hauser.
